New York Color and Demi Lovato have recently partnered up for a new spring collaboration. Together they came out with a line called NYClovatics and I was fortunate enough to receive an amazing package from with a few of their new items. The package contained a hand written note, a new Lovatics by Demi mascara and the “natural” Lovatics by Demi eye shadow palette autographed by Demi Lovato herself!
My usual makeup routine consists of cosmetics both drugstore and high end. I love everything and anything of good quality regardless of the brand or where it is from. I do have a few signature things from NYC that I swear by like their liquid and pencil eyeliners. However, eyeshadows are the one item I tend to gravitate more towards high end on. I find a higher quality in the pigmentation and texture, which is to be expected when you are willing to pay more.I have not dabbled into NYC’s eye shadows before. They are on the lower end of the price spectrum, so I always assumed they would be flaky and not have as much color pay off like the other drug store brands I have tried. Again, I haven’t tried theirs specifically, so I cannot say if that is the case for them. It was just my assumption and kept me away.
I can say that when I tried this palette I was instantly blown away though. I took the smallest bit of a neutral brown color to buff the crease and couldn’t believe how dark it was. I was not expecting that from them at all. It held onto the brush so well and came off true to what it looked like in the palette. I was so in love and had to create my entire eye look using only their shadows to show exactly what it is capable of. If you are on a tight budget, or do not like to splurge on shadows, but want to look like you do I highly recommend this palette. It contains both matte and shimmer shadows and the colors are very comparable to ones you would find in the Naked palettes by Urban Decay. Two thumbs up for sure!
Here are a few photos of the new items themselves and a few makeup looks I created using them. You can click the photos to make them larger. As always I have information on how I achieved these looks below.
