An evening of oh la la, and a French picnic dinner inspired by the finest French ingredients and the worlds best tasting vodka!
This summer is definitely turning out to be one to remember! I'm feeling so fortunate to have been invited to Grey Goose Canada's exclusive Sunset Soirée event at the luxurious Azuridge Estate Hotel.
Grey Goose Canada was generous enough to invite Calgary's top bloggers and business owners out for the evening. They greeted us with drinks in hand and escorted us to the dinner area where they had individual blankets set out for each party on the guest list. Each party received their own cocktail mix and adorable picnic baskets full of delicious fresh food. The entire event was catered with ambassadors ensuring that we were well taken care of at all times. After the meal the courtyard and gazebo became the playground for the mixer! There were open bars serving mixed drinks and vodka espresso shots, there was also a delightful dessert bar, a DJ, a sketch artist, and various other forms of entertainment. Needless to say the event was nothing short of the exquisite Grey Goose name!
The soiree dress code was summer cocktail, so what do you wear to an event like that? Well, what is a cocktail dress? A Cocktail dress is a an elegant dress suitable for semiformal social occasions. Obviously my typical my floor length ball gowns were too over the top, and my short summer dresses weren't going to cut it. The only solution was to shop for something new! Clearly it took a lot of convincing for me to talk myself into going to the mall... not!
For any corporate event, whether it is semiformal or not, you should aim to look professional and portray the best image of yourself. These are networking opportunities, and you never know who you'll run into. You want to be remembered for all of the right reasons. With that said, I purchased a black lace dress that was knee length with spaghetti straps and beautiful lace arm bands attached to the side of the dress. Given that this was a summer event with a picnic style dinner the spaghetti straps were suitable. Although my shoulders were exposed the overall length of the dress and detailed arm bands balanced it out. Off the shoulder tops, ruffles, and side bands are definitely a trend of summer 2017, and I'm one of those woman who are soaking it up. I love how feminine and pretty the exaggerated details make me feel!
As for jewelry, I kept it minimal for this look to help tone it down and keep it semiformal. My statement pieces were fair sized earrings which were floral embellishments made of gold, crystals and pearls. I paired them with a crystal choker tight to the neck, and a second gold chain with small pears spaced throughout that hung loose under the choker. Both necklaces were thin and simply added to the elegance of the look without stealing the show!
I would classify this look as simple and summery yet chic!
